SkillsUSA Illinois is excited to kick of the 2018-2019 year. Our 2018-19 SkillsUSA theme “SkillsUSA: Champions at Work, Career-Ready Starts Here” speaks absolute truth. We know that this is not only a goal of our organization but all involved with Career and Technical Education. SkillsUSA is the only organization that defines, implements, and measures career-readiness of students based on demands set by business and industry today. Through the SkillsUSA Framework, SkillsUSA Career Essentials: Experiences, and SkillsUSA Championships students become aware, demonstrate, and show mastery that they are prepared for what comes next.
Earlier this month, at the State Director Association Annual Professional Development and Training Conference in Pensacola, Florida, SkillsUSA Illinois was presented with two national awards for outstanding service and support at the state level.
SkillsUSA Illinois earned the Gold Level of State Standards of Excellence, the highest level a state can recieve. The State Standards of Excellence Program ensures state associations have in place policies, procedures, and structure on an annual basis that deliver a high level of service and to become the very best organization for all their members.
SkillsUSA Illinois also was recognized with the Reaching New Heights Award for outstanding commitment and dedication to the growth and sustainability of SkillsUSA.

SkillsUSA Illinois Job Opening
SkillsUSA Illinois has a job opening for a Senior Coordinator, Training and Development.
The primary responsibility of this position is to foster new relationships and build on existing relationships with school administrators and teachers while improving the capacity for success among local SkillsUSA Illinois chapters. This will include training and developing implementation plans of SkillsUSA programs and curriculum in local chapters, along with providing continuous support. Along with developing relationships with key partners in the state as well as in the state department of education and business and industry.

SkillsUSA is an integral component to all Career and Technical Education programs and classrooms; and membership is recommended for all students enrolled. Membership must be submitted by the participant’s first SkillsUSA event or February 15, 2019 whichever occurs first.

SkillsUSA Career Essentials: Experiences is the next generation of employability skill-building curricula developed for today’s students. SkillsUSA Career Essentials: Experiences is everything you need to give your students what they need to be career-ready. SkillsUSA has launched a second level career readiness training curriculum – Career Essentials: Experiences, advanced set. SkillsUSA Career Essentials: Experiences, advanced set includes five workplace-based Experiences and an authentic assessment capstone Experience. Students exit the advanced Experiences with a career-readiness portfolio and interview skills.
All Experiences were created using project-based learning design best practices and include a 30-minute instructor-led kickoff, student instruction sheets, instructor guides, online e-learning events, offline learning events, pre- and post-tests, and scoring rubrics.
