This competition evaluates teams for employment readiness in integrated manufacturing technology fields of computer-aided drafting/design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and computer numerical-controlled machining (CNC). CAD operators construct the part geometry, CAM operators generate the tool paths, and CNC operators set up and machine the part. Plotting is not a scored event; however, the competitors must be able to generate a plot file that will be used to send their data to the plotter.

The career competitions of the SkillsUSA Illinois Championships follow the current edition of the SkillsUSA Technical Standards. These are available to professional members (advisors and teachers) as a membership benefit following their submission of membership.
