The Role of a SkillsUSA Advisor

Taking on the role of an advisor to a SkillsUSA chapter is one of the most intentional steps you can take as part of your professional career. The impact of this decision on your students and their future will be life-changing. You’ll find that many of the roles and responsibilities of serving as an advisor support the work you are already doing in the classroom.

Position Descriptions

SkillsUSA is an integral part of the instructional program. All career and technical education departments should have active participation in career and technical student organizations. All should instructors have a responsibility to ensure members are career ready through programs like SkillsUSA. Most schools designate a “lead advisor” for SkillsUSA. This person serves as the point of contact for all SkillsUSA related business and works closely with both students and instructors across multiple training programs.
