Students compete in NIMS Level I and II manual machining skills and knowledge areas, including operation of manual milling machines, lathes, drill presses and surface grinders. Related knowledge and skills in the areas of engineering drawing interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, technical math, machining practices are tested. Using precision measuring/hand tools and communicating verbally using proper industry terminology are also part of this competition.
